Oh, Honey!

I have been a full time, professional boudoir photographer in North Carolina for almost 20 years. I began shooting boudoir in 2009 and left my full time day job in 2012, opened my own boudoir studio in Kernersville, NC and never looked back! Let’s be honest…after almost 20 years and hundreds of women photographed, I strive to keep my boudoir shoots alluring and interesting. Insert: New prop!

I fell in love with more contrasted boudoir a few years ago and since then have found ways to incorporate different props to really play with shadow and light, as well as detail. I love capturing the female essence in a seductive and sensual way while still keeping the images beautiful and interesting. I have played around with water a lot over the years but was itching to try something a little different.

While honey boudoir isn’t necessarily a new idea, I did want to play around with it using contrast. Besides personally loving all things honey (where it comes from, how it’s made, the taste, etc.), I love that it flows and sticks differently to the body than water, thus leaving a little more time to capture it. It almost mimics a woman that walks into a room with a silent confidence and moves slowly and smoothly while leaving her mark and capturing the eyes of those around her.

What do you think? Would you add honey to your boudoir shoot? Sure, it takes a little more to clean up but it is so fun and adds a fun, new dimension to your shoot. If you’d like to play around with honey during your boudoir shoot, I have stocked up on tiny jars, honey combs and honey for you to do so - just ask! :)
