You may notice this beautiful lady from a shoot a couple of years ago. In fact, this is the 4th time I have photographed her. We originally met when I photographed her maternity photos back when I shot boudoir and everything else. She was the epitome of genuine and was so easy to talk to. After having her baby and becoming a boudoir client the first time she has since referred 3 friends which earned her a free shoot. Yes, this is available to ALL clients that book! Refer 3 friends and after they shoot and order their images you get a free shoot!
You may have caught this shoot on Periscope since she was sweet enough to let us record it live. I thought telling her story was important because that is what I strive to do as a boudoir photographer. To me, it’s not all about sexy photos but helping to tell a deeper story of my clients. While I won’t be able to tell her complete story I urge you to check out her new blog that she has made to help others in her position.
During her pregnancy, Alicia developed Rheumatoid Arthritis to the point where she literally couldn’t get out of bed and had to be taken to the hospital. Upon further diagnoses she was told, as an avid runner, that she would never run again. She was now a new mother struggling to get out of bed to feed her daughter and scared to even hold her out of fear her hands would flair and she would drop her.
Her story is one of grace and encouragement and while she still has RA she has made major life changes and has created her website to let others know there is hope. She has since ran Boston Marathon twice as well as many other races, most of which she has won.
I think it’s easy for us to look at boudoir clients and think “Wow, she has the best body ever…I don’t look anything like her and there’s no way I could do a shoot.” The reality is though that everyone is dealing with something personal on some level – and sometimes? Those things are so severe that pain is endured on a daily basis and for many, suicide is sadly contemplated. Boudoir is a place to reclaim your body, yourself as a woman, and to celebrate what you ARE, not what you AREN’T.
This is just the first set of images from our shoot I’m sharing and the others will be shared in a different post. I loved this CK inspired look for Alicia since it’s simple yet sexy and a bit sporty.
Check out Alicia’s blog here and if you know someone struggling with RA, please link them as there will be a lot more to come.
