YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

Hi – I’m Stacey, the gal behind the camera, and the one showing you how to pose and reassuring you that you don’t look as silly as you may feel. I’m also reassuring you that I know boudoir can be a vulnerable experience but you are going to rock it out and have a blast!

I try to laugh often. I like my coffee black and my whiskey neat. My handsome fella and I have been together for 11 years and together have 6 rescue cats and a rescue dog. I usually have a cat curled up in my lap at all times and can’t really think of anything better in the world.

At the end of the day I’m a fellow woman sticking my middle finger up to the world of expectations while learning to love myself and teach self love to other women through beautiful and sensual photography.

You can learn more about me and why I chose boudoir as my full time career here and when you decide you’re ready to take the plunge, I’d LOVE to chat and you can get in touch with me here.

How it all began

It all began in 2010 when a portrait client asked me at the time of booking if I would feel comfortable taking photos of her in lingerie.  I had never done so before, but she admitted that she was in the best shape of her life and just wanted sexy images to remind her of that.  I told her that while I had no issue doing so, I wanted to do a bit of research on it, as I wanted her to look sexy yet confident and classy.  Upon doing so, I realized that there was something out there called “boudoir”.  The day of her shoot came and she had beautiful lingerie and we had a jaw-dropping backdrop to use – a beautiful victorian home.  After editing her photos and showing her the proofs, her reaction solidified that I had indeed provided her with sexy yet classy images.  She agreed to let me share a few of those images and  upon doing so, I was asked by another lady for similar images.  I agreed, and again, her reaction to seeing her images filled me with gratitude and happiness.

I took a step back and had to think about why I enjoyed shooting boudoir and what it meant to me.  I wanted to do so to empower women, which meant not making them look or feel like just a sex object.  I wanted them to have an experience, not just have sexy photographs of themselves.  I wanted it to be something they prepared for, anticipated, and enjoyed every step of the way.  From the beginning, I agreed to have a professional makeup artist on my team.  I wanted women to show up the day of their shoot and not have a thing to worry about.  I wanted them to slow down, reconnect with themselves and be pampered.

In the summer of 2012, I left my full time job and began shooting boudoir full time.  For a year before that I was shooting on weekends, after work, and taking my vacation days from work to shoot.  It was time to take the leap and I haven’t slowed down since.  I have met some of the most amazing women whom I am grateful enough to call my friends through boudoir.

In the fall of 2013, I opened my own boutique boudoir studio and became North Carolina’s Premier boudoir photographer. Shooting only boudoir, I am where I need to be and I could not imagine doing anything else.

What Boudoir means to me

Being a female means a lot of different things to a lot of different women – but actually
feeling like one and reveling in the fact that we are an amazing species I think is important for every woman to take part in at least once in their life.  We are so hard on ourselves day in and day out – so tired and run down.  Sometimes, so taken advantage of, putting ourselves on the back burner to take care of children, sick parents or pets, starting our own businesses or even trying to keep the job we have in such a tough economy – that we lose touch with who we are.  That inside, we are still soft, gentle, beautiful and amazing ladies.  We are vulnerable every day, but we don’t always see a positive outcome from being in that position.

I love, more than anything, the look on my clients’ face when they see themselves vulnerable, relaxed and stunning and think “Wow, I am beautiful!”  I think it is SO important for women to feel beautiful and secure within themselves, and that is why I love shooting boudoir.  It is classy, timeless, sensual, elegant, relaxing and needed.  It means a lot to me as a woman to help another woman gain self awareness and feel beautiful about themselves.

Tips on what to wear for your boudoir session

"I without question can tell you that this is the best investment I’ve ever made, since buying “R” an engagement ring 15 years ago. Actually, as I write that statement I realize that buying her “anything” could never come close to what you have done for her. This session you had with her, is priceless! You have given her the “psychological boost” that she has needed, something that no “self-help” book, no cosmetic surgeon, and no shopping spree could ever provide! “R’s” self-esteem has completely heightened with not only the photo shoot, but all the blogs, e-mails and many, many kind words and beautiful attention you have provided with your web-site and Facebook.”

"I’m definitely the last type of girl you would expect to do a boudoir shoot—quiet, shy, and self-conscious about my body—but Stacey really has a talent for bringing out your inner rock star! She was great about answering any questions I had before and after the shoot (what to wear, how to display my new photos, etc.), and guided me through every pose on the big day. What stands out to me most about Stacey’s work is that she really tries to make sure that the photos reflect the individual client, and it shows in the final product. I still look like me–curves and all!–just the best version of me."

“I sat here and cried. They are the most beautiful pictures I’ve ever seen in my life. You and Jade made me feel beautiful. My husband is in awe. I can not thank you enough. You can share any of these you’d like. They’re amazing. My husband and I say down and we equally agreed, easily, on the ones we liked the best. This has been one of the best experiences of my life. I’m speechless. Thank you.”

"This experience opened a door for me, and I was almost too afraid to walk through to what awaited me on the other side because I felt as if I didn’t deserve it. If I could tell future clients one thing, it would be that you DO deserve it. You deserve all the confidence and beauty and empowerment that comes with being a woman. Regardless of your body type, weight, physical and/or emotional scars, you deserve this experience.”

"Thank you again for capturing such a beautiful moment in my life..not only for me and my husband, but also for my daughter….”

"Perhaps you’re like me. I live a very controlled life. I have expectations to reach, responsibilities to bear and demands to fulfill. But I believe women are more complicated than that. This session was a chance for me to explore all the different sides to who I am. I’m planning to strategically place these photos in my home to remind me of the WHOLE person that I am. I’m professional, I’m vulnerable, I’m sophisticated and I’m sexy. I’m all those things. And I’ll always have the photos to remind me!”

“I will be honest – like many women, I have a hard time truly seeing myself as beautiful. That inner monologue that plagues many women has gotten a hold of me too, but these photos are a TREASURE. Thank you for capturing how beautiful we often forget we are! You have a gift!”
